{UAH} FAECES IN KAMPALA WATER IS SO WORRYING!
It was revealed a few days ago that there are faeces in our tap water because someone chewed the money for treating it. This is so worrying as it is believed that the recent outbreak of typhoid was partly because of this devt.
Secondly, something is not right with Lake Victoria. In the 1980s-90s,the water had a bluish colouring then that reflected its relative purity but not anymore.Today, the lake water now has a GREENISH colouring!!!! Garuga Resort beach has the same greenish colour.Everything in Uganda is in a terrible state!! Worse to come unfortunately!!
Lake Victoria is now a dying lake. It has died far more in the last 29 years than at any other time in its geo-hydrological history because of reclamations, Spraying with chemicals; large agricultural schemes such as oil palm growing in Kalangala and erosion. This is dangerous. Lake Chad in North Africa which used to be the 8th largest lake in the world is now a small swamp thanks to ill-advised human activities.
There is also Eutropication - excessive growth of algae due to a high organic content. This has resulted from the increased deposition of organic waste into the lake. We are yet to see more
The Sahara used to have water and trees!! That lake is our life source and it also gives life to all those who live on the banks of the Nile all the way to Cairo!! It must be protected!!! Sadly the leaders in Uganda are busy helping themselves to our money that would spearhead such a project!!! It is unfortunate that community mobilization to counter such degradation has been shunned for individual merit which on the major part promotes social evils
