What to Wear for a Skype Rendezvous

It's rough when you and your significant other are separated by travel for an extended period of time. Take it from 75 percent of the fashion industry who has been bouncing around from New York to London to Milan—soon to Paris—for almost a month. But of course, all is not lost in these digital times. After all, we live in an age when relationships are born on Tinder, breakups are announced on Twitter, and love can be rekindled by a simple email courtesy of the World Wide Web. And then there is Skype, the one-click and sometimes pixelated interface, that allows anyone to communicate from anywhere in the world. No long, thought-out Napoleon-to-Josephine love letters sent by snail mail here.

So what should one wear for such a rendezvous in cyberspace? A black suede dress or a lightweight patterned frock will do the trick and make a special night out of a simple conversation. Still, there are a few key things to remember. "There has to be either embellishment or contrast," says Vogue.com Market EditorZalopany. "Bright colors or patterns are perfect and work especially well if the connection happens to be spotty." If it's just a dial-up-pillow-talk sort of get-together, keep it lounge-like but still special, like a canary yellow bra set or a robe-style top with a cool collar. After all, a standout piece with lively hues ensures that your other half will definitely see you—even if you are literally oceans apart.
