UNAA delegation to attend NAMCA Convention, Washington DC

New Orleans, Louisiana, April 17th 2015 - Under the auspices of the UNAA Community Outreach Initiative (COI), UNAA President, Mr. Brian M. Kwesiga and UNAA Council Speaker, Mr. Nicholas K. Wakou will lead the UNAA delegation to the North American Masaba Cultural Association (NAMCA) Convention in Washington DC, May 21st - May 25th 2015 at the One Washington Circle, N.W. Washington, D.C
 
The Convention's theme is "Homeland & Diaspora Partnerships For Development in Uganda: The Case of Bugisu Sub-Region" and for more than 12 years, The North America Masaba Cultural Association (NAMCA) has devoted its energy to passionately promoting Masaaba culture and language, safeguarding the welfare of its members, promoting and advocating for self-reliance, education, and socio-economic development of the Mt Elgon sub region.
  
Bamasaaba in the diaspora will have a chance to lend their voice to the process of selecting the new UmuKuuka / UmuKuukhu of BaMasaaba during the AGM in Washington D.C. The large Masaaba community in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C will especially have the rare opportunity to influence this process. BaMasaaba from everywhere are encouraged to attend a special session where NAMCA members will propose leaders who they believe align with our organization's mission and vision and ultimately with the aspirations of all Bamasaaba.

About the Community Outreach Initiative (COI)
Launched in 2013, the Community Outreach Initiative (COI) was a program launched by the incoming UNAA leadership to transform UNAA into a grassroots organization and move beyond being a mere one weekend a year convention organization. Since its launch, the current UNAA Administration has visited more Ugandan Cultural Organizations and Community Association events than any other administration in UNAA History creating relationships and improving the UNAA Brand.
 
About UNAA New Orleans 2015
The 27th Annual UNAA Convention and Trade Expo will take place over three days; September 4 - 6 2015 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans showcasing program and forums including Trade & Investment, Technology, Health, Education, Political as well as a forum on Intergenerational relationships between immigrants and their children born in the Diaspora.
 
The Saturday Dinner Cruise is a popular culinary event complete with a dance to both live performances by popular artists and DJ music - aboard a magnificent marine vessel sailing into the spectacular Mississippi River sunset. Proceeds from the Fashion Show Auction during the Sunday Gala Dinner will go towards the Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program.

Over 50 exhibiting companies and vendors featuring the latest world class Ugandan culture, produce, music, books, literature, arts crafts, Jewelry, clothing, foods, etc. will gather under the theme "Better Together: Investing in our future through education".
