{UAH} THE MULINDWA NOTES ON VIOLENCE IN UGANDA {--- Series two-Hundred-but forty-seven} {Part one}

At the exit of Iddi Amin from power he made no broadcasting so frequent as advising Ugandans that the war out of Tanzania is not about Yusuf Lule but the return of UPC to power, and installing Obote as  a president. The man repeated those sentiments so many times than I cared to count. Amin also stated that on return of UPC into power and installing Obote into office, Uganda was going to face massive deaths in the country. Iddi Amin was right all along and here we so are today. But if Amin stood on Uganda waves and warned us about this very eminent danger, how did we fail to protect ourselves from such? Because as Ugandans we do not analyze past occurrences to predict the future, we are none critical thinkers to a point that today Akim Odong  has preached on how we must stop to write about the past but focus on the future. We stood up and hated Iddi Amin so bad by naming him Ekijambiya, Ekinajjolo yet the man was 100% right in all his warnings. This series is going to specifically raise a very serious issue of how Acholi/Langi publicly became violent people and we just failed to add the dots together.

After the fall of Amin Nyerere instructed all members of UNLA not to go to West Nile for Acholi/Langi needed to murder every Kakwa Madi Lugbara and Banubbi. And yes they at last arrived and killed every one they got their hands on, but it is important to note as well that they got pregnant women and cut their stomachs pulling out the fetus,  thus murdering both the mother and baby. Because Acholi were attacking “Amin’s” people we kept quiet about it, we justified such actions as actions thrown to Kijambiya’s people. We neglected West Nilers and they fell on the sword of Acholi/Langi violence very quietly. We pulled government services for these are Amin’s people. The International community neglected them for they are Amin’s people. Red Cross and Amnesty International did not go there for those are Amin’s people. West Nile people that are alive today are alive for thy ran out of West Nile and formed massive camps in South Sudan but Eastern DRC, many died in those camps, and we as Ugandans stood by, as Acholi and Langi came back smiling with blood on their hands. And we justified all these deaths with a simple sentence, Acholi have gone after these people for they hated Iddi Amin.

When you look closely at Luwero war, again Acholi/Langi arrived into the war and did exactly the very same things  they did in West Nile. They raped women and raped girls, they got pregnant people and cut their babies out,  thus again murdering the baby and mother. We turned around and justified that violence to Acholi hate Baganda. And that kind of reasoning built the atrocity that Southerners did in Acholi land. There was a whole whack of remember what you did in Luwero? Now let all men drop their pants and we screw them. But as a critical thinker I question if really Acholi did that for they hated Baganda, why? What had Baganda done to Acholi to build such hate, I simply do not know it.  Now we  have Acholi committing crimes against Baganda and Baganda committing crimes to Acholi, and someone thinks we are balancing now.

Well let us go to the Kony war, this was a war where NRA committed crimes to the people, but we have a whole lot of reports of Acholi committing crimes to Acholi. Because in Acholi land they have only thatched houses they would light them,  cut women’s tombs get out the babies and throw them into burning huts. They killed literary thousands of Acholi, they  raped many Acholi women including as young as age 7. And my question is very simple, if Acholi killed West Nilers for they hated Amin, if they killed Luwerorians for they hated Baganda, who did they hate to murder fellow Acholi? Can one argue that actually Acholi hated each other,  thus the grinding of babies in pounders?

The second part of this series will be posted as soon as it is ready
