The Select Committee investigating the grabbing of Nabagereka Primary School and other Public land on Thursday, 8th May 2015 met with the Buganda Land Board (BLB) at the Parliament.

The Buganda Land Board led by its Chairman, Eng. Martin Kasekende, met with the Committee to look into issues of ownership surrounding Nabagereka Primary School and to explain how the land got into private ownership of Boost Investments.

The Committee Chairperson led by Hon. Robert Migadde was interested in finding out why the Buganda Land Board had taken a backseat on the matter.

Eng. Kasekende explained that the Buganda Land Board was not responsible for the land giveaway to Boost Investments.

"Uganda Land Commission leased the land to Boost Investments in early 2006 before the government returned the property to the Buganda Kingdom. So by the time we got the land it was already leased to the private investor," Eng. Kasekende explained.

The Chairperson of the Select Committee said their interaction with the Buganda Land Board would inform further investigations by the Committee on the matter.

Eng. Kasekende expressed gratitude for having had the opportunity to interface with the committee and vehemently asserted that the Board played no role in the land giveaway.

The meeting follows a directive by the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, when she established a Select Committee to investigate circumstances surrounding the seizing of land on which Nabagereka Primary School is located, and other schools within Kampala by people who claim to be investors.
