{UAH} Investigate Mbabazi source of funds - NRM Youth
Dear All,
I think we are beginning to see a good conversation on accountability. I salute these youth for their stand, yes, it is high time our politicians declared the funds they intend to use to finance their campaigns, and like in budgets, the source of that money.
They are right to ask, "Where is the money Mr Mbabazi is distributing coming from. In Kibaale, we have some people being sponsored financially by Mr Mbabazi," Mr Namara said. He added: "We need to know where the money is coming from. Where do you get money to spend in villages, in towns as an individual when it is not from the party? If we don't even have it as a party what about an individual who is saying he is Mr clean?"
However, these youth need to cast their nets wider, it should not be only Amama Mbabazi to be investigated or to declare his source of funds. All contending or aspiring candidates should do the same and President Museveni who has been distributing money everywhere he goes needs to explain the source of that money and whether it is used according to what it was intended. The youth should also ask the president whether it is in Uganda's interest to pay for Rwanda's war debts in form of compensation to the people of Kabale as President Museveni has inquired. They should also demand the government to institute an official demand for compensation from Rwanda not the way President Museveni is handling it, "that he will ask his brother Paul Kagame and if he refuses, then he will do it himself," ask him or investigate the source of funds he is going spend and why?
The youth should not demand for accountability from one candidate and leave the rest, that will be bias, malice, sectarian, opportunistic and myopic. Cast the net wider, young people and go ahead to press demands for accountability!
