{UAH} IS THERE A 'SEMUWEMBA' ROAD ANYWHERE IN KAMPALA?
Friends,
I think Britain is still the most 'powerful' country in the world.You feel them everywhere you go.Every British town/city name got copied into name towns/cities in America, Australia, Uganda and other countries when they were colonies:
1.Peterborough(UK) where one of my cousins lives, is also found in both Canada and USA;
2.Eastbourne has been copied into Ontario, Canada (near Barrie);
3.Eastbourne has been copied into BC, Canada (near near West vancouver);
4.Eastbourne has been copied into New Zealand (near Wellington);
5.There is the city of London in Ontario;
6.New York somewhere near Coventry has been copied in USA;
7.And I'm not forgetting, Lake Victoria, Speak Hotel in Uganda; Rudolf and Albert, Port Elizabeth, Salisbury, Rhodesia, New York, etc, etc.
So, who was the culprit who named so many towns after British names to annoy me on my travels around the world? Please own up. Let us name them and shame them.
Just one small question,tongue in cheek,of course:Why can't the Kampala Director, Ms.Jeniffer Musisi be kind enough and name one of those 'British' streets in Kampala 'Semuwemba Road'? It sounds native, doesn't it? No offense meant,of course, but it would also stop my British friends from continuously asking me to spell my long name!
