{UAH} UGANDA TO HOST REGIONAL SECURITY MEET; criminals watch out

Uganda is set to host a meeting of the heads of security and
intelligence services in the East African and Inter-Governmental
Authority on Development (IGAD) community.

According to a communication from Ambassador Fred Ngoga Gateretse of
the African Union (AU) commission to respective member states, this
will be the second such meeting of Heads of Intelligence and Security
Services (HISS) following the first one held on February 28 and March
1, 2015 in Djibouti.

The communication shows that at the meeting, "it was agreed, among
other things, that there is an urgent need to deepen co-operation and
intensify the interaction among the countries and institutions
concerned to ensure continuous review of the security situation and
the level of the threats posed by terrorists and criminal groups in
the region."
It was also agreed to institutionalize the meeting of the HISS through
the launch of a process to be named the Djibouti Process for the
Enhancement of Security in East Africa with a framework of meeting
every three months.

It's said Uganda was offered the opportunity to host the follow up
meeting given its role in security policing in the region.

The meeting is to be held at Commonwealth Resort at Munyonyo in
Kampala from 14th to 15th this month (July, 2015).
