SV: {UAH} BBC News: SA campus to remove colonial statue... Free at last?

Akim,
I am not sure. Try finding out. I believe my mother once told me he was the first bishop of
Gulu Catholic  church or something. He was called Negri. Perhaps that was when St Josephs Cathedral was built?

I am nor sure. Help me out there.

LAdit Mirima;

I have been campaigning on the same in Acholi. We have Sir Samuel Baker SS, named after a land grabber and colonialist and yet others think it very prestigious. Another is Negri , short of negro. I don't understand how we allow such mockery. Imagine Mugabe was even stripped off his knighthood George Okello correct me) for putting right the colonial wrong, why should we allow such non sense?.
I am trying to see if the school could be named after my uncle. He was a porter there for very long time.

Dear All

The University of Cape Town deserves a medal for having the sense to see that in today's 21st century statues of colonialists like Fredrick Lugard, Cecil Rhodes, Ternan, Macknon, Ernest Berkely, Henry Colville, Gerlad Portal, Thruston, etc, have no room in Africa so the University voted to remove the statue of Cecil Rhodes.

Jenniffer Musisi should lead the way and remove all those street names of those murderers from Kampala City and elsewhere. And I can't see how in today's 21 century a town can be named after a colonial murderer like Portal.

I don't see why it does not cause shame on Ugandans to see in their midst names on their streets of murderous colonialists as if we are thanking them for murdering our millions.

Jenniffer Musisi should pick a leaf from the Kaamuswaaga Apolo Isansa for seeing that time had come for Kooki to reclaim their independence from Buganda.

So, Kampala City must get its independence and delete aall street names of colonial murderers.
