N o, no,no, at this moment in the socio-economical development of Acoli, people like us both perceive and consider the

development of communication infrastructures very beneficial. And, it is not only the "TARMAC" down town Gulu or Kitgum.

They are developing: Gulu-Kampala; Gulu-juba: Arua Gulu; Gulu-Kitgum. I believe another line from Kitgum meets the Gulu-Juba Highway.

Now , if this is not essential positive development to boost both commerce and open up the region for other evolutions,

then I don't know your world.

And the "RURAL ELECTRIFICATION" is a success both for commerce and culture.

These are utilities that are beneficial even at prevalent levels, types and kinds of freedom, rights and democracy.

I surely don't imagine that your so called freedom & rights is a winner. But, i'll give you the benefit of the doubts

when you elucidate your version of freedom and rights.

There is a price on everything. If mere infrastructure is more important to you than rights and freedom then you have clearly got it wrong. Good for you that simply visit Acholi as and when, and all you care about is driving your 4X4 down Gulu highway without a care how the people you pass along the road get on. As long as the road is smooth, to hell with everything else.  Now that is not a winning argument for me.

For us Acoli, even in this period of renaissance, people like us who are non-partial

in Gulu. I do not need to blow the horn. It is there. You know it and see it.

For us Acoli, that is welcome in a region that has been limping way behind.

So, yes indeed, if infrastructure development is fundamental in my choice of candidate / party,

the choice is obviously NRM. It is a lot more thricky if the key election issue is for example, corruption.

Then I would gauge in a tripple " Keyi-keyi".

NOW, IF I MAY ASK YOU, ISN'T IT YOU PARTY POLITICIANS WHO SHOULD PRESENT US

THE PEOPLE OF UGANDA WITH KEY ELECTION ISSUE?

If you don't present us your key agenda that we perceive as A PRIORITY, why would I not go for what I see?!?!?!?!?!?

You really amuse me with you warped believe that everything is cosy and that we have a political level playing field. I think if you were a prostitute and a man with HIV waved a wade of shillings in your face you would easily open up without a care that you will be infected and suffer for donkey.

We in Acholi do not want development based on supporting a movement that is false. Not by a rotten gov't and a rotten system of governance. We would rather walk or drive in our potholed roads and use tadoba for lighting but in peace and freedom. Acholi is not that cheap to be bribed by some development and in return, accept being a prisoner in his own home. What thrash is that!

Because it struggled hard for Independence? Struggle for independence is for example, not

our peoples reality today. Besides, that struggle was not solo.

If corruption is central in my choice of candidat, yes, that is when I would have to dig deeper

before casting my votes at all levels. And, that is mighty hard. Cos the entire cross section

of Uganda is corrupt (( INCLUDING THE OPPOSITION PARTIES)).

Kitgum mayor defects to NRM

Mr Richard Ojara Okwera.

Kitgum- Kitgum Town Council mayor Richard Ojara Okwera (pictured), a UPC diehard, has defected to the NRM party

Mr Ojara made the announcement while addressing journalists on the progress of granting Kitgum Town Council a Municipality status last Saturday.
He also added that he will vie for the Municipality MP seat on the NRM ticket.

Mr Ojara, who has for two consecutive terms served as the mayor on the UPC ticket, said he was enticed to defect to the NRM party due to enormous developments the NRM government has brought to Kitgum, for example, granting the town council a municipality status.

"The NRM government has done well to bring a municipality to Kitgum.

"I was left with no choice but to join the NRM so that I can be able to effect all- round development in Kitgum." said Mr Ojara
He observed that he was appalled by the current fighting within UPC, which he said is further weakening the party even
He said that was his reason for leaving the party.

Kitgum district NRM party chairperson Jimmy George Ayella, confirmed receiving a copy of Mr Ojara's defection letter addressed to the UPC district chairperson and a UPC party membership card registration number, 00005288.

However, Kitgum district UPC chairperson Gaston Odongkara, said the development is not a surprise to them because they disowned Mr Ojara from the UPC a long time ago.
