{UAH} Ocen, WBK//Kenyans could pick future presidents from top performing governors

Folks;

I share Prof. Mutua's vision for Kenya's political emancipation from the corruptible and authoritarian central government, but not with the same immediacy as he sees it.

Mutua lauds the County government system as a panacea for tribal hegemony, yet Counties were curved along tribal boundaries and with tribal populations in tact. The exceptions are the usual, multi-tribal counties: Nairobi, Mombasa, and Homa Bay. Apart from these three, you will be hard pressed to find another County has is populated by more than one tribe.

That said, the proposition that in the future, Kenyans will choose one of the governors to be president is laudable and achievable. That lucky candidate will have to be a sitting governor, with at least two-term experience. I think it will take a governor two terms to gain national name recognition and to overcome his or her tribal label.
