{UAH} The Challenge of playing in a Lumpen Democracy
The Challenge of playing in a Lumpen Democracy: If you noted carefully, the people who are now chastising Dr Kiiza Besigye for being selfish, are the very ones who were sleeping on 8" mattresses behind 8kg steel door and padlocks while the Dr was being whipped to pulp and sprayed with expired teargas on the streets of Kampala.
-- To disrespect KB may be that easy way of running away from the truth, but let us state it openly. The Dr has earned his place in the queue and he should not be scorned or scolded, for he is what he is because of what he has been through, for what it was, and still is.
We should take keen interest in seeing why Museweri made an easy win in 2011. The lack of consistency and commitment from the elites and ultra-elites who want to sit by their well polished coffee tables, or over the fence, to read text books of democracy and assume also that in Uganda's lumpen democracy there are rules required of principled participants, whereas not.
While I respect the many who have different views of reconciliation in the post Museweri era, I disagree with them for stating that KB is selfish, greedy or wants to be the very change that he has inspired. I see no problem with KB becoming a Torch bearer of the TDA, such that "Prince Ali Baba" aka JPAM becomes a running mate or chief mobilizer.
Either way, KB position in the struggle is not something that should be wished away by elite democrats who commit to nothing tangible, except posturing and speaking white (aka concocted civility).
The real struggle is not about who holds the Flag, but how the one who is chosen to hold the flag will perform. In this regard, I maintain that all the odds are against JPAM tat make him a dead weight, unless he can show us his structures - even a mere campaign manager (other than his wife), and a platform where he is accountable.
Remember, even his Go-Forward symbol and slogan are illegal as per EC. Those, maybe, when presented, can then ease our minds. The inevitable positions to clear are as follows: JPAM must return NRMO membership card; Must come to the alliance with his supporters and some semblance of a structure, plan. (Whose structure does he want to inherit?), and show us that he can be held accountable to such. Let us stop playing elitist games on foot soldiers.....we might be building the tower of Babel. END.

"But this I know, UPC believed and still believes in
very high education. We can call Obote all bad names we have, but the bottom line remains that he got more scholarships for Buganda than all previous Uganda leaders combined. That includes Sir Edward Mutesa, President Lule, President Binayisa, up to and into Ssabasajja Mutebi. Who all happen to be Baganda leaders." Mulindwa
