The role of the military choppers is still unclear as some residents believe Soroti air force school is making drills while others say the planes are monitoring for signs of chaos.

"Soroti town is very busy with traffic jam as people are waiting to see and hear from the aspiring candidate Amama Mbabazi," reported another witness.

Meanwhile, Amama who left Kapchorwa minutes back says the Electoral Commission has no right to render his rallies illegal.

"Consultations are not restricted to venues," he pointed out.

Stopped by yellow youth

En route to Soroti, Amama convoy was stopped by people putting on Museveni t-shirts in Bukedea town.

They reportedly disowned him [Museveni] and endorsed Mbabazi as their president.

Some of them were seen undressing and waving the yellow T-shirts in support of Amama.

Afterwards, Amama thanked the supporters and promised to return to Bukedea and address them.

Some of his supporters are currently heading to Awoja Bridge to receive him.

This is about 16km outside Soroti town on the Soroti-Mbale road.
