Gen Aronda Nyakairima died of "acute heart failure due to extensive and irreversible blockade of the heart blood vessel" says the autopsy report released by government today afternoon. 
The deputy government spokesperson Col Shaban Bantariza says no postmortem was done in Dubai where Aronda died because it would have taken a longer time which would have caused more pain and suffering to the aggrieved family and friends. 
According to the findings conducted at Mulago hospital, the pathologists found Aronda's body with "red eyes due to reduced blood flow back to the heart", Bantariza said. He further said Aronda's heart was found to be "enlarged" and "an abnormal fat layer [was] surrounding the blood vessels"

Bantariza said, the autopsy report is the "technical" explanation of Aronda's death and any other "social, political, unholy reasons shall be addressed later by government".
Dr Moses Byaruhanga said "the excessive fat on top of the heart was compressing the vessel" causing exhaustion and difficulty in breathing.

The autopsy reads in part:

The External findings: Noted red eyes. This was due to reduced blood back into the heart.
Internal: The heart was enlarged with presence of bleeding within the muscle of the left ventricle (one of the heart chambers) involving the whole thickness of the muscle.
There  were many old small areas damaged heart muscle (scars) due to interruption of blood supply to the heart. The heart also had an abnormal fat layer surrounding the heart blood vessels. Some blood vessels had also been affected by the excessive fat.
Lungs: The lungs were markedly enlarged with small minute of areas bleeding on the outer surfaces.
They showed excessive accumulation of fluid and blood on cut surfaces. The two finding were due to failure of blood flow from the lungs into the heart"

Meanwhile Aronda's body is currently at parliament with hundreds of people thronging the House to pay their last respects to former Internal Affairs Minister.
The body of the late Aronda, who died on an Emirates flight from South Korea to Dubai last week was brought to parliament at 9.56 am. 
It was received by the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda and Chief of Defence Forces Gen Edward Katumba Wamala.
Aronda's wife Linda Ngabirano, daughter and son plus relatives were ushered into the central foyer with several government officials and dignitaries. 
At 10.12am, the body was wheeled in, amid sombre music played by the Uganda Police band. It was placed in the lobby outside the Parliamentary chamber by senior army officers.
Shortly after, the casket was opened for public viewing. However, the army ordered journalists not to take pictures of the army officials and government ministers.

Parliament staff who were standing on the first and second floors of the South wing were also directed not to take head shots of the body. The reason for this, Gen Katumba said, was because of the "irresponsible media" that had been "insensitive" to the family of Aronda and has been running unfounded stories ever since his death last Saturday. 
Tomorrow Friday, prayers will be held at Kololo Independence grounds while burial is scheduled for Sunday.
