{UAH} Who is the next minister of internal Affairs? A Beti Nambooze or the Thanking lad(Tumwebaze)?

Friends,

Ever since God recalled Gen.Aronda(R.I.P), some people have been clandestinely lobbying for the post of minister of internal affairs. Aronda's face till dominates most of the photography on the ministry website such that one may even think that he's still alive.

Examining the historisity of the position of the minister of internal Affairs, I'm, however, surprised none of the Muslim, Karamajongo, or any of the minority groups is lobbying for it. It's like people have given up and automatically expect it to go to a certain class of people. The post itself was believed to be the second most powerful in the post independence govt after the prime minister, a reason why Busoga's Nadiope had to exchange blows with some people outside Obote's house claiming that he was the right person for the position.

Nadiope made it clear that the position shouldn't go to a northerner because the north already had a PM from the north. Nadiope was , unfortunately, deceived with a weaker position of vice presidency, and that's how the post again ended up with a northerner or a madi to be specific!

Nadiope believed that some guys, particularly Nekyon, were intent on promoting northern dominance of everything despite Obote's good intentions of uniting the country and  sharing the national cake equally.

While lobbying for ministerial positions at the time JPAM was running the show in the govt had become a euphemism for shady practices and influence-peddling, I've known it to be a respectable trade, representing the large and varied interests of honest constituencies who want to make sure their views are fully presented and heard in the cabinet. In most cases, when a lobbyist calls on a lawmaker, the only thing they have to offer are their arguments or grievances in behalf of their position on some legislation, regulatory rule or misfortune.

This is an election year and NRM leaders know they are going to have
to be seen cleaning house to counter the accusation of 'westerns-eating-everything': from the public service, scholarships to the army. So, it wouldn't hurt anybody if the new minister of internal affairs is from another minority religion or tribe. There's nothing wrong with spreading happiness, is there?  As the old hymn goes: "this world is not my home, I'm only passing through."! Byebyo ebyanjeee!
