Okurut,
There are times when I have doubted..., wondered plenty if there were not at least more than
one person signing under that "Ahmed" IP.
I still do because some times the contrast is so huge. I am begining to think the NRM might be safer without that mentality on their parliamentary ticket, after all.

Gaumoy Nockrach,

With Ahmed Kateregga, I have my reservations about what he says. I am still analyzing his statements to come up with the right observation. For instance, yesterday he compared UPC to Nazis, and was very serious about it. So, I was still drafting a response but now he comes with this mixed grill.

I  don't know whether it has passed but I was interesting in understanding areas say five principles and practices that UPC and Nazis had in common. May be it is not late after all, may be by evening tomorrow, Ahmed will be back in his normal blaming mode.

This federal thing does not guarantee people leadership in their localities because it an elective game; there are no guarantees! I look at federation for service delivery but not to give people local leadership; to me that is secondary.I live in a federal country and I see how federalism works.

Ahmed,
It seems you sweepingly parade names without really sure of respective contributions.

But we can live with that. I am one of those who would vote NRM if there were elections today to which I were legible.
Of course, I would vote NRM on basis of ongoing concrete infrastructure developments like road constructions, rural electrification schemes and hydro power projects etc. Why not? They have some thing to show that can develop further.

So, the politician who would get my vote in Gulu or Kampala (both are home), would be the one who talks and presents "how we go from prevalent".
Now we are having electricity and roads are relatively good. So, the one who gets my vote would be the one who "ear-marks" concrete developments. Especiaslly those that impact the simple, simple daily live of a common / regular citizen.

When it comes to the UPC saga however, as one who adores "structural functionalism" and correctness, if find it odd and incorrect that such a major old timer party like the UPC stresses up such a major decision without anchoring it thoroughly in the party organs.

I don't have to be a UPC to point that. I would say the same if it were the NRM, DP,CP or FDC.
So of you as a journalist, I would expect more factor based observations. For example, I would expect you to dig deeper and come out with unbiased analysis in terms of procedures, structure etc.

What do you think about the decision process in this context?

As said, as a Gululian, I would definitivt vote NRM today yet still wonder why Akena just does not singly cross over to the NRM?

UPC is one of our independence parties and in allaiance with KY , it
got us independence, NRM is a home of former parties including UPC,
and Northerners are also Ugandans, and many like Yekosofati ENgur,
Martin ALiker, OCheing, did a tremendable job, and some were in DP as
early as 1954, like Tiberio Okeny, Andrew Adimola, even some were
founder members of UPM like Okum, Akena P'ojock, some were in FRONASA
, some in UFM like the late Maj. Oboma.
Even Amama Mbabazi group has Olara Otunnu, Maama Mabira maong others,
including DP President Mao Norbert.
More so, Maama Miria Obote is our own sister and Jimmy Akena our own
son, we can not dison him.
Probably, this will contribute to national integration.
Since independence parties have turned themselves into regional
groups, UPC for Lango and DP for Buganda, this alliance should
champion a federal form of government so that Akena becomes the
Regional Premier of Lango, Mao becomes Regional Premier of Acholi, and
we elect our own Premier here.
Northerners dominated KAR and we did not complain until Obote misused
them during 1966 Crisis.
They are also Ugandans just like our selves, Africans, just like our
sleves, Christians and muslims, just like our selves, and NRM, FDC, DP
,UPC etc... just like our selves.
So alliances if well principled and motivated, are not bad.
