{UAH} FDC supporters clobbered in Gulu

UPDATE: Besigye Convoy Attacked

People suspected to be members of deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah's security detail have attacked FDC flag bearer Kizza Besigye's convoy as it made its way to Gulu town.

Initial reports place that the clashes started after Oulanyah held a rally in an area where Besigye was due to make a stop.

The violence broke out when Gulu Woman MP Aol Betty Ocan attempted to engage the Oulanyah team for holding an "illegal rally" given that parliamentary campaigns are currently suspended.

The convoy was attacked by stone and club-wielding men who hit among others, an NBS Television journalist.

Oulanyah was evacuated by his security before the chaos started.

The incident happened at Lalogi Sub-County headquarters.

Besigye is scheduled to address a main rally in Gulu today.

Meanwhile, police presence is visibly heightened at Gulu Hospital ahead of Besigye's arrival.
