The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has directed the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the Sh250 billion Eurobond transactions.

The DPP Wednesday ordered EACC and DCI to investigate the transaction records and record statements and report back to him in 10 days for directions.

In a letter addressed to both agencies and also sent to media houses Wednesday morning, Mr Tobiko expressed concern that in the last couple of months, several allegations concerning the matter had been widely reported in the media.

"I am informed that your respective agencies have commenced and are undertaking investigations into the matter," said the DPP.

"This is, therefore, to direct you to interrogate, record statements and obtain evidence from all parties concerned and forward the competed file to my office within 10 days for perusal and appropriate directions", he added.

On Tuesday, Cord leader Raila Odinga urged companies that took part in the Eurobond to release details of their transactions.

Cord gave the government 14 days to explain how the proceeds from the bond were used.
According to the coalition, the government has failed to account for Sh140 billion.

The Treasury responded and invited Mr Odinga to scrutinise documents showing how money raised through Eurobond was used.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich on Tuesday said they had asked Mr Odinga to visit the Treasury on Friday at 10am when they will hand him all documents showing how the money was raised and spent.
