SV: {UAH} THE DEBATE MUST CONTINUE!!
Oh man, Akim, you sure love to flatter yourself, don't you?
So, you really contend that this debate happened in response to yours? Man this is a trend that is on and has been on this subsequent years. You have no part in it.You simply stated a process that was already on.
Okej, may be you did. Perhaps you could also provide us with your correspondence(s) with relevant institutions(if any) to show this spectacular "DEMAND"? Did you communicate with for example, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Election commission, respective party organs?
I am keen to learn this new blend of demanding.
On the whole, I bear with you, though except for the tiny bit about "ONLINE SERVICES". Uganda has not even come to any volume there. In fact it has not even started. The infrastructure for that kind of commerce is not there. Otherwise, it is booming and far from saturated.

People;
-- I am proud that I was the first on this forum to demand the presidential debate. I wrote way back in NOV 2015 nti, People;
In a world where the digital rules and where Mu7 has made claim, that Uganda is now wired up. Is it therefore out of place if Ugandans demanded that the presidential aspirants make use of this technology, and hold a series of televised debates on TV instead of traversing the country, endlessly, in convoys of cars and motor bikes? I don't think so! We should therefore demand and arrange as soon as possible a televised presidential debate. We want to find out who is the naked King; who have forever hidden their mediocrity behind the foray? We need to smoke them out like squirrels out of a mold hill!.
It finally came to fruition last night. Thanks to NTV and of course, the moderators and not least the candidates. It was a poor performance from the presidential candidates. The only impressive thing was Kalya's Gomesi which fitted her very. Otherwise, her performance and that of the rest of the candidates revealed the level of apathy never known in any country. One should be asking where are the Ugandans with brain; where have the articulate people gone, what went wrong, have they all left the country; died or what? The answer lies in the state of the country, the education, the level of freedom enjoyed by the citizens. The current government has managed to stifle freedom in all spheres that people have forgotten how to talk and articulate issues. The aspirants were so poor that their performance could be compared to primary school teachers from sujui Mawokota or even Katakwi for that matter. None of them knew what foreign debt was or how it came about; by even forgetting to spell out that some of it accrued from their rivals wasteful expenditure on a presidential jet. They were simply below par.
In the twenty-first Century, Uganda needs better. We need leaders/aspirants who are not only educated but exposed. Exposure provide for what books and classroom does not. This is the reason school trips are a vital part of the curriculum. The candidates should have spared time and travelled abroad, rubbed shoulders with Ugandans out there and learnt one or things. There was Major Biraaro, saying that he would spend three Trillion Shs to set up sujui agric and export hubs in every district. From where would he get that money, what cash crops, where would he sell or export them? I only wished the moderator would have made a fool of him with those questions. Then a whole professor Mureeba to stand up and tell the country that he is going to create jobs for Ugandans by setting up online services. This was a joke beyond belief. If the prof was exposed and travelled, he would have learnt that the industry is not only saturated but out of date. Besides, which western nationals wants to listen to an accent like that of the prof on their end of the line?
Talking of accent, I thought the moderators did not make it any easy for the candidates. Besides their constant interruption, their fake English accent, figure of speech and quiffs, threw some of the candidates off course, and ending up with the wrong answer. Even the well-heeled Mbabazi blamed the audio system for failing to understand the accent. The moderators, when they come home, should leave some of their acquired outfit out there, it does not auger well at home.
Finally, the debate should not end with the presidential selection but it should creep down to all elected officials. They must explain and account to the people on such stage. It should be a monthly event. Ugandans will be more than happy to pay. I am aware the POMB and its leash handler Kanyihura, was set up to prevent such freedom speech but about time that Ugandans regained their voice as very old hands wither. The only success of the presidential debate, was that it took place at all and that Ugandans were given a chance to sift the grain from the chaff. However, most will be disappointed that it was only chaff and no brain.
The debate must continue, and for federalism to be confronted in such a manner as civilised people do!

Tolerance is a stage in civilisation!
