Mutunga tells EACC to audit him, judges
Chief Justice Willy Mutunga yesterday revealed he has invited the anti-graft agency to conduct a lifestyle audit on him and judges of the Supreme Court.
He said he is ready to give the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission his wealth declaration forms and any other documents they might need.
The CJ told the new commissioners the fight against corruption is not easy and they should be ready for political pressure, unfair smear campaigns and even threats to their lives.
"...but you must meet these with unbowed personal principles, commitment to the objective truth and faithfulness to the constitution," Mutunga said.
The CJ spoke at the Supreme Court during the swearing in of EACC commissioners.
"From investigation, to prosecution, to litigation, the justice chain must be objective and grounded on the constitution and the law," Mutunga said.
He said he has increased the number of magistrates in the anti-corruption court in Nairobi from three to 13 and created an Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the High Court.
The presiding judge at the division in the High Court will be named soon, Mutunga said.
