{UAH} Has the EC changed its mind about the Crime Preventers?
At the Beginning of the Electoral cycle when asked about the participation of illegal militias in the elections, The EC chairman Badru Kigundu, was quite clear that that would not be tolerated! When questioned directly about the pro NRM crime preventers militia he was clear that only the police force of Uganda would be involved in this election! Of late the Police chief has been throwing hints about the pro NRM militia the crime preventers being involved in the elections (in spite of the fact that the Prime Minister of Uganda clearly told Uganda that this Militia has no enabling laws and is therefore as illegal as the interehamwe were in Rwanda!!!!), not only that but he has been quoted to have allegedly encouraged this illegal militia that they would be armed to fight anti NRM Party adherents! Ugandans have become accustomed to such illegalities so you do not notice any significant protests to this! But what is shocking and telling is the EC boss' silence on these goings on! This fellow assured Ugandans that this time he would give them a credible election! Please Mr Kigundu help us and tell us have you changed your mind about militias participating in this election?! Have you allowed Kaihura to bring the pro NRM militia into these elections? Is it the EC's view that men in civilian clothing armed with sticks and no identification tags are a good addition to this election cycle? What if all Ugandans take the cue and come to the polls similarly attired and equipped will it be the best election you have ever held?! It will be very foolish of the opposition to participate in an election where that issue has not been cleared up!!
