{UAH} Mbabazi and Besigye have finished off Museveni!

Unless the impossible happens which will never be the case
when people's resolujtion is displaying a special pride for the
advent of change, the Opposition, marshalled in by a very cunning tactical
Mbabazi, and his colleague Besigye, a no mean soldier-politician, is going to sweep the full honours of the day come February 18. Opinion surveys are now crediting the Opposition with an overall take of nearly 60% which means a steep descent very far down for the incumbency! And this will also create very many surprises in the Parliamentary polls wjhere, for example, DP-leaning candidates are going to shine all over Buganda. The cause of all this NRM eclipse is one thing : the party has left the entire political ubiquity to one man whose contradictions in promises, etc... are there to show to the electorate how things won't evolve for the better! Therefore the need to seek a new haven elsewhere! And the work so far done by both leading Opposition candidates has been a real assurance to the masses that the best wasn't far off! Indeed the population has come to see in the Opposition the real alternative to what has been regularly proposed for thirty years and failed to take off! Failure to do so is what now obliges the masses to throng Mbabazi's and Besigye's rallies and to feel heartily glad that a presidential candidate can visit a poor home and hold a cordial dialogue with the family in order to learn their plight and study alternatives for a solution. Thios is where especially Mbabazi has acted with sincere pride, leaving a successful political trail behind. he has impressed the VBasoga, the Baganda in Bukoto, the Banyoro in Buliisa whose land was grabbed from them....and almost left in fullmùisery! The simple but national memory stickers have enabled a Go-Forward  thrust in Kitgum and all over East Acholiland where Norbert Mao and Olara Otunnu surrounding Mbabazi almost posed for real apostles pulling the masses to listen to a political messiah! One could see the, for example, a Mao waving his white and green walking stick to choir-master the tens of thousands in attendance into cheering a moved Mbabazi! And outright success was obtained! Mbabazi conquered most of Acholiland! And it has been like this all over the country where Mbabazi and Besigye have led their campaign.
Surely Museveni as a conductor of the incumbency has also got his big crowds, but these can't excite much as they are now becoming the remnants of a finished matter! The oppositin candidates have dared triumphantly where it was a no-going area for them several years ago. Now they eat into big chunks in the Western region, for instance, and in Busoga, and they have almost laid claim on the entire Central region where Buganda is now unpredictable for NRM and is actually no longer their sure bet! NRM Buganda Parliamentary caucus leader was recently quoted as having said that NRM could win for Museveni 3 million votes in Buganda region due to what he termed a cordial relationship between the party and Mmengo. Good! But doubts persist as to how such a colossal sum of votes can be obtained in a place where infrastructure is on a collapse, unemployment daily on the increase, uncertainty for the future of the region becoming a dominant item in a region where demands for federalism are a very pressing issue! ETC...
Here, just like elsewhere in the country, Mbabazi's presence has added weight to value. No abstention is expected as voter apathy is now ruled out. Those who would have abstained from voting Besigye, in case of a regular Museveni-Besigye dual, are now safely running to Mbabazi.
All this has brought in a certain degree of excitement for the Opposition and fear in Museveni's camp. All over the weekend Ofwono Opondo has been heard almost barking at the Western diplomats threatening them with stiff action in case they risked mixing into Uganda's current politics! Where! the entire international community is now turning eyes to Uganda to monitor the events including the election and any anticipated rigging! It will be very difficult to rig an election where the international community has already invested an amount of interest.Just as to Ugandans on a whole, it's to their great advantage that the new government hands many big effectiove portofolios to the opposition in order to start a new era that would see transparency and accountability take shape in the country's management. This time the smile is with the Opposition for the good of the entire nation! Come what may, if NRM wins, things will not continue to stand as they are but will see a new era of full ushering in!

G.H.K.
