Museveni withdrawn from Burundi mediation

President Museveni has been dropped from mediating Burundi's dialogue on accusations of being a biased party.Museveni has now been replaced by SouthAfrican president Jacob Zuma,after Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza accepted to dialogue with the opposition a move to end several months of unrest in the country.According to reuter news agency Nkurunziza's resolution follows a meeting with UN's general secretary Ban KI Moon.Uganda government officials including the deputy executive director of the Uganda media centre and the defence minster Dr.Crispus Kiyonga who has been representing President Museveni at the negotiations have declined to make any comments.Ban said Nkurunziza had also promised to lift media restrictions in addition to freeing over 2000 political prisoners.More than 400 people have been killed since April 2015 when Nkurunziza chose to run for a 3rd term triggering street protests and a coup attempt.Mr. Ban's visit is the latest in a series of diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the unrest.
