Umeme nonsense can be eliminated
Today there is enough technology to supply electricty at almost production cost. This is wind and solar energy. The District of Kitgum and Gulu should work with Gulu University to start massive solar farms with 2-4 GW target . The same can be done here in Buganda with Buganda Kingdom leasing Ssese rocky islands to solar and wind farms energy producers and selling off the electricity to the Grid. at just above production cost you will see how mcuh profit you get.

It appears to me Umeme gets the money anyway even if there is power outage otherwise how can a profit making entity run business like the way they do?
Basically their clientele is less than a 1.5 million people!
Effectively, since 2008 I have witnessed the same problem over and over again. One time we had to buy a generator at 45 million to be able to run activities. That cost is not calculated as running cost. It is true that you will lose your fresh foodstuffs when power goes off a full day comeback a few hours and then all of the sudden it is off again – some of us do not have luxury of wasting time going to markets daily or osing business. That is a cost too.
The issues are so serious that many small scale factories are closing down.This is a real problem or the coountry!
Yes indeed, poor people and even people in affluent communities are rationing electricity in their homes given the price of the commodity.

I am trying to record dates per hour when Umeme is not offering me services. I did it last year and I am doing it this year to get a clear picture of how much I loose and how much umeme probably gains in not servicing me.
