Be informed that Contract talks between the city and union representing inside workers have broken down. The city presented its final offer last night. CUPE Local 79 has rejected it and has also dismissed the provincially appointed mediator. The deal apparently includes job stability but not so-called "jobs for life." At this point being a Sunday we do not know what step is going to be taken, but we are facing two options, a lock out or a true strike. We will know more tomorrow when Monday breaks in.
