{UAH} WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP BESIGYE( A FELLOW UGANDAN)?

Abbey Semuwemba

And one can argue that what the opposition is resorting to after the election in which they willingly participated, even when Museveni emphasized many many times that he was not giving away power, is very very disturbing and troubling. Resorting to violence of any kind at this juncture has no benefit to the present and future of Uganda. Will Uganda end if Dr Kiiza Besigye does not become president of Uganda? UAH is indeed exposing its sinister and selfish motive by lending its support to Besigye and encouraging him to go on a rampage. UAH is also contradicting itself by congratulating members of the opposition who have won this or that constituency, while at the same time claiming the election was not fair and just. If you honestly believe the election was stolen why do you continue to congratulate those MPs who have won seats? If Besigye loves power that much why did he leave NRM when he knew very well that he does not have the capability of overthrowing his former boss? UAH lost its value long time, now resorting to encouraging violence in Uganda completely destroys whatever is still left of it. If you wanted to engage in the election process and committed to supporting Besigye, why did you not organize, mobilize and gather enough resources to prevent the election from taking place in the first place? Ugandans have seen enough violence and wasted lives, there is no need to introduce and encourage a new mayhem especially by people who will not even be there when the country burns. If you want to trigger another round of violence, please get off your butts from London, New York, Ottawa, Paris and wherever you are, and return to Uganda and burn with the rest. It is immoral to agitate for violence from a safe place. This is what was done in the 1970s by Ugandan exiles directly killing of innocent Uganda from Dar-es-salaam, simply because they wanted to return back to power. I have told you many times that I do not support Museveni and will never do so, but I reject all forms of violence to remove him, especially after 30 years when he has already caused enough damage that will take 100 years to correct. Also, if change is being called for by the same people who have been and continue to be part of those who have caused untold suffering, count me out from your so-called change period.

Enough reaches a point of being enough.

Friends,
Anyone with sanity will realize that what the security agents are doing to Besigye is not normal, and part of me feels like we've all let him(a fellow Ugandan) down. This should be a matter of consensus amongst everyone, and I think we should start discussing ways on how we can help the police respect Besigye's human rights. Uganda communities abroad have a huge responsibility on their shoulders to organise protests or reach out to their MPs, Senators, UN or anybody capable of turning the screws around. Otherwise, we can't just continue just writing on social media without raising our voices on something as big as this. The sad reality - which most of the commentators on this issue ignore - is that big chunks of our elites today are sellouts who prop up oppressive regimes in Africa.
