{UAH} The ball is finally thrown at the Supreme Court justices

After a marathon of days of evidence filing and submissions, the Supreme Court justices will retire to the offices to come up with their verdict on the presidential election petition filed by Amama Mbabazi.

In his petition Mbabazi called for court to anul the results Electoral Commission chairperson Eng. Badru Kiggundu announced declaring President Yoweri Museveni with 60%.

The Chief Justice Bart Katureebe hailed the counsels for the petitioner, first respondent (President Museveni), second respondent (Electoral Commission) and the Attorney General after the last response by Kiryowa Kiwanuka.

Chief Justice Katureebe confirmed: "It has been a hard week, we shall give a final decision on 31st March."

Mbabazi argues that the electoral commission did not comply with the law in declaring the final results among twenty eight grounds he filed to the Supreme Court to anul the results.

He claims the electoral commission did not use the declaration forms, retired the voters register and did not use voters cards as required by the law on election management.

The Gofoward candidate prayed to the Supreme Court not to consider the verdicts of the 2001 and 2006 to decide this election arguing that the numbers did not count in this election.

Mbabazi's lawyer Counsel Jude Byamukama submitted: "The last two decisions 2001 and 2006 based on numbers, I pray that this will be a different case."

In their defense, the first respondent, second and third all agreed that the petitioner did not present substantial evidence before court to anul the election.

They went ahead to ask court to dismiss the petition with costs.

Counsel Kiryowa prayed: "We therefore submit that court dismisses the petition at a cost.
