{UAH} We don’t want bad leaders but hell no, we won’t stand in line - Comment
There is something unsatisfactory about the way we discuss politics and leadership on this continent. I am generalising for a good reason.
The "we" here refers to a wide cross-section of society, including academics and the intelligentsia. We talk tirelessly about the things we want our leaders to do and the things we don't want them to do. We dedicate little effort, however, to thinking about or exploring the "how," sometimes even the "why," of the things we want and don't want.
On top of that, we want our leaders, people born and raised in the same society as us, not to do the very things we do and find difficult to avoid in our daily lives, public and private.
Sincerely,
Brian M. Kwesiga
