{UAH} Possibility of women deacons in the Catholic Church...

Pope Francis has hinted on the possibility of creating in the coming weeks
a special commission to study the possibility of ordaining women
as deacons of the Roman Catholic Church. The Pope's move has
been welcomed with great enthusiasm. It will no doubt be a move to
compensate for the decline in religious vocations especially in Europe.
And it has been seen as one of the Pope's steps to give a very active role
to women in the Church. Women deacons used to exist in the Church up to
600 years ago and now this will definitely be a revolutionary renewal initiated
by the very charismatic and pragmatic Pope Francis. The deacons help the priests
at Mass especially in reading the  texts and preaching the sermon, they also help in administering baptism, presiding over marriages, and conducting funerals.
Neverheless they don't celebrate Mass as this is strictly reserved to priests.
Women deacons will be a special attribute of relief and ease to the running of the Church especially in places where the number of priests is on the decline as in many European countries where priests are even recruited right from Africa and Asia. Some of these missionaries from the Third World countries are doing an exceptionally commendable work and are very much loved by the faithful.
In another development preparations are now in full gear to send pilgrims to Namugongo for this coming 3rd of June 2016. Many will come from America and Europe. And hundreds are already registered in Kenyan dioceses such as Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, etc.. And Rwanda has carried out many registrations for a pilgrimage that will include visiting the Marian Shrine at Kibeho (Rwanda) before proceeding to Namugongo. The Pope's very heroic recent visit to Uganda that included a special pilgrimage to Namugongo is making a lot of global impact
on this year's Namugongo pilgrimage. Of course, as usual, millions of people will pour there!
