| | Chair of the Safe Spaces Project Management Board - Church of England Location: London NW1 5JR | Salary: Reasonable expenses will be paid Safe Spaces is a vital, independent response to helping the needs of survivors of abuse perpetrated in the Church of England. The Church has commissioned a series of independent projects to deliver a wholly different approach designed to improve the experience of survivors. A Management Board is being established to provide effective and transparent governance, oversee the commissioning and procurement process, monitor the pilot projects' progress over the initial three years and ensure compliance with contractual arrangements relating to the safety and wellbeing of service users. The Chair of the Board will not be formally part of the Church of England. The Board will comprise of representatives from the Church of England (minority), from external organisations and from survivor groups. The role of the Chair is to provide highly skilled strategic leadership to the Board, bringing together a knowledge of church context abuse survivor issues with a proven record of managing sensitive, high profile topics. The successful candidate will be required to: - Have a public or professional profile that demonstrates acknowledged achievement in a relevant field of policy or practice
- Be able to demonstrate a keen awareness and understanding of the current national profile and widespread sensitivities concerning the survivors
- Have a knowledge of Church structures and the dynamic of the faith context of the project's work whilst being independent of the Church
- Chair the Safe Spaces Management Board comprising 10-12 key stakeholders representing different interests and professional backgrounds including survivors of a range of types of abuse
- Provide assured leadership to the project, enabling all Board members to remain safe and engaged in its proceedings
- Navigate successfully a complex series of relationships between the Church of England, the funders , the partner delivery projects as well as survivor groups and individuals.
