{UAH} Minister to give shs.30,000 for burials
Folks;
This minister is a true son of the soil. Certainly, he has walked the villages, and attended funerals. This minister empathizes with the pain and financial strain that a death brings to a family.
His offer of Shs.30,000 may sound little, but it makes a world of a difference for an average family in the village that can't afford a bed sheet, or a blanket to send off a loved one.
If I come across as passionate about this benevolence, it's because I had, in 2006, advised my former MP, William Oketcho, (RIP), to launch it in West Budama North. My budget for him was modest: shs. 10,000 per funeral.
My idea was for Uncle William to establish and staff a Constituency Office at every LC11 level to "be close to the people."
With his "ears at every village", he would be able to get developing news from his own staff in a timely manner. MPs get enough budget allocation to support this kind of Constituency office presence.
Hon. Kabafunzaki deserves my congratulations for identifying and setting out to address a humiliating inequity in our villages, where a bereaved family that can't afford to provide basic decency to bury their loves ones.
