UAH is secular, intellectual and non-aligned politically, culturally or religiously email discussion group.

{UAH} Nobody is compelled to issue a condemnation or apology for an act they did not commit.

Nobody is compelled to issue a condemnation or apology for an act they did not commit. Particularly People of Color, or Muslims.

The collective guilt burdened on these groups is only deepened by the issuance of apologies and condemnations, which more often then not, intensifies the state and private violence inflicted on these groups following a crisis. Moreover, they can be and often are interpreted as admissions of guilt.

Most importantly, falling into the trap of feeling compelled to issue a condemnation after a terror attack involving a Muslim or Person of Color, if you belong to one of these groups (or both), strengthens the institutional White Supremacy and Orientalism that makes us beholden to the bind of collective guilt.

Therefore, if you feel compelled to issue a condemnation, issue it against the structures that assign you with the collective guilt it never assigns whites.
