August 13, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– Latest reports from Bari Lobonok, the home village of Second Vice President, James Wani Igga, confirmed that South Sudan forces loyal to president Salva Kiir felt into an ambush at the outskirt of Lobonok Payam on Friday.

According to Gideon Elia, who was visiting Lobonok, sustained battles were heard outside the town before it escalated into the town center.

Elia believes that an ambush, which targeted SPLA-IG soldiers was laid outside the town  by SPLA-IO.

"Yes, there was heavy fighting here on Friday. No body expected Machar rebels here in Bari Lobonok. This area has been calmed since January clashes between Dinka Bor pastoralists and the local people here but this fighting was big and intense" Elia said.

"Now everyone has again fled Lobonok. The government soldiers have tactically withdrawn to Juba" he continued.

According to Machar's press secretary, James Gatdet Dak, fighting occurred between Rejaf East and Lobonok on the eastern side of the river Nile.

"There was fighting on Friday between our forces and those loyal to President Kiir. It occurred between Rejaf East and Lobonok on the eastern side of the River Nile, about 30km southeast of Juba," said James Gatdet Dak, spokesperson for Machar.

Gatdet said at least 15 bodies of government soldiers were found and many others were wounded in the battle.

The opposition claims that their forces have captured military trucks from the government sides and destroyed three others during the combat.

Lobonok, the home village of Vice President James Wani Igga, is located south of Juba on the east bank of the Nile.

In other reports the rival forces also clashed in Lafon County of Eastern Equatoria states on Frida
