{UAH} NRM and UNAA
Mr Mukasa,
My update on the lawsuit did not refer to the NRM role in UNAA, so I don't know why you said I attacked NRM. That is why I ignored your initial email. But I noticed that several other people have hinted at the same thing. I have always said that the political affiliations of UNAA members are none of my business. UNAA has members from most political affiliations (which is a good thing).
My opposition to NRM donations to UNAA is well documented. It gives the NRM too much control over UNAA. If you are a member of UNAA, you must know that since 2010, I have been showing that the NRM is using its money to control UNAA. UNAA imposed very high fees on anyone that wanted to volunteer in leadership positions and they imposed very high membership fees. This has resulted in membership plummeting from over 2,000 in 2009, to less that 100 last year. in 2009, about 700 members voted. In 2015, just 55 members voted...which was basically outgoing leaders, incoming leaders and their spouses, including the 20 Election Commission members! Worse, when the EC resigned at the last minute, NRM USA sent in its officers to man UNAA's elections!
It divides UNAA members because supporters of opposition parties look at UNAA as an NRM affiliate.
But you are wrong to say that I benefit from NRM money. When I go to the convention, I always pay for myself. The convnetion costs about $120 per person. UNAA charges me $270. How does NRM money subsidize me? The NRM money to goes to the leaders, not to ordinary members like me.
Since I posted my views on unaanet and UAH, you should have posted yours there too. For some reason, when I post on those forums, folks like you choose to respond privately and you expect me to answer you right away. I got over 40 emails relating to my post. I can't respond to all of them in one week because I devote just 30 minutes to those forums per week
thanks.
