{UAH} Poor GOP.

"I hope Americans understand that [Donald Trump's] remarks do not represent the views of our Republican Party." 1
–Senator John McCain, written statement from August 1, 2016

Donald Trump is now the leader of the Republican Party, and most prominent Republicans—including Sen. McCain—have endorsed him and stood by his candidacy, even as they've tried to distance themselves from from his reckless statements.

But here's the thing: Republicans like Sen. McCain can't have it both ways. The choice facing Republicans is simple: rescind their endorsements, or be branded "Donald Trump Republicans" and pay a steep political price (including, for many, potentially losing their seats this fall).
Donald Trump's candidacy has been a bitter pill to swallow for the Republican establishment. Yet, when Trump called an American-born judge of Mexican heritage, "unqualified," Republicans swallowed it. When he sent an anti-Semitic tweet about Hillary Clinton, Republicans swallowed it. And when he called for a ban on all Muslims entering the United States?
