{UAH} Suspect delivers at police cells
Folks;
For several reasons, I condemn the New Vision for publishing this story in these details.
First, out of common decency, no woman should be exposed at the time of her delivery, unless she explicitly consents to the publicity. A woman is most vulnerable, and exposed during and immediately after delivery.
Yet, here is an 18-year old mother, just minutes after issuing a baby, and a news camera person snaps her photos.
Secondly, her allegedly victim is a minor, and as such, should never be exposed in newspaper stories, especially when she's a victim of abuse.
Ugandan police are notorious for exposing suspects and their alleged victims, without regard to their legal rights for privacy.
This young woman deserved privacy more than any ordinary suspect; he's basically in a delivery room.
Now, both she and her alleged victims are in the same boat: they've been victimized by an aggressive police that desires to be seen as being tough on crimes, and a newspaper that seems ignorant of the right to privacy, especially for minors.
