Kasule,
The similar history has been taking places in the whole of Latin America up to today. Ask me what? I shall tell you that it had only been in Cuba under Fidel Castro where the fighting of imperialism led by America which could not succeed. Not very long ago Hugo Chaves, Marxist was murdered in cold blood when Pinochet the pro-American imperialist died a natural death. Until today, there exists political chaos in Venezuela after his death being engineered by the imperialist.
The same applied in Brazil where the similar imperialist had to overthrow the Worker's party regime and replaced it with a racist capitalist regime. This, I think is the memory of what we are even seeing what had taken place in South Africa lately whereby the racist system with their surrogates in the UK and US continue to condemn Jacob Zuma.
Not that I want to conceal the corruption charge against Jacob Zuma in South Africa, but why are the imperialists Western powers not pushing the issue of Land reform in South Africa. YES, things may not be quite the same I think not in the very long time in the future as the Land reform problem in South Africa may explode like in Zimbabwe!

we remember Chile's democratically-elected leftist President, Salvador Allende, who was overthrown in a bloody coup 43 years ago today. The coup, led by General Augusto Pinochet, led to Allende's death.
Allende was the first ever Marxist president elected in a Latin American country through open elections. During his time, Allende fought capitalism and imperialism and stood for the rights of the working class.
Allende helped implement social reforms such as higher pensions, a free school lunch program and safety laws for factory workers. His regime was supported by working-class constituencies, but was opposed in covert actions by U.S. President Richard Nixon.
