Health authorities in Lyantonde district have arrested at least 10 people for lack of pit latrines.
The operation in which the group was arrested was conducted in two villages; Kichwampa and Nabiwunda in Lyakajula Sub County.
According to Lyakajula Sub-county Health Inspector Sylvia Kayinda, several households in Lyakajula do not have pit latrines, which prompted the authorities to mount an operation to arrest the culprits.
She said that the operation is to be extended to other parts of the sub-county to arrest all those without racks, garbage pits and pit latrines.
Deogratiuos Bbosa, Lyakajula Sub-county chairperson has however, asked the health authorities to sensitize residents about the dangers of open defecation before arresting them.
