Panic as Jamilu Mukulu attempts to strangle Judge in Jinja court
0There was security panic at Jinja High court after the jailed elusive former Allied Democratic Forces rebel supreme leader Jamilu Mukulu attempted to grab and strangle the judge accusing him of remanding him to Luzira without charges pressed against him.
Earlier in the morning, security cordoned off Jinja High court premises blocking all other court goers before he was driven to court under a water tight security.
Heavily armed to teeth Counter terrorism police, Joint Anti-Terrorism Team from UPDF, Police Field Force Unit, prison officers, police detectives and CMI detectives sieged the court premises.
Mukulu and his two co-accused were then brought before Justice John Francis Kaggwa who read to them charges and decided to remand them to Luzira upper prison for safe custody until investigations are complete.
However, this did not go down well with the former deadly militant who protested why he was being remanded to Luzira prison yet no charges had been placed against him and his team.
Mukulu also accused counter terrorism and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence interrogators at Nalufenya police station of forcing him to eat pork and drink alcohol yet he was a Muslim.
"Why are you remanding me to Luzira prison, I have been detained at police for now one year and no charges have been placed against us" The defiant Mukulu said as he tried to jump on the judge's neck.
Judge Kaggwa was forced to adjourn the court for few minutes and went for consultations in his chambers before he returned shortly and remanded them to Luzira upper prison until further notice.
They were later whisked away in a very tight security to Kampala and other courts resumed their businesses later.
The group are being charged with a myriad cases which include among others the murder of Sheik Muwaya Abudallah, Tito Okware an LC III Chairman and 2 policemen namely Muzamiru Babale, Abudukarim Tenywa.
The Commander of the DRC based Ugandan rebel group the Allied Democratic Forces [ADF] was arrested in Tanzania last year and handed over to Ugandan authorities.
