The Columbian president Juan Manuel Santos has just been awarded a Nobel peace prize.  The award recognizes a recent peace deal reached between the government of Colombia and the country's Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels to end a half-century of fighting. Now why did I define it as a silliness? Because the deal was rejected by Farc, but it was also voted down in the referendum. And it is interesting for this pump up of the deal was voted on just last Sunday, why would the Nobel prize selectors jump right on it to praise it and given the wounds they got after offering the very same prize to Obama that has fought more wars than any other past presidents?

 

This award thing has lost every meaning.
