{UAH} HOW PRESIDENT AMIN BECAME LIFE PRESIDENT.
(Picture: "Kneel down completely!")
Facts Vs Hysteria.
A petition was brought hardly two years into his reign. It was drafted by the people of Kigezi. They had designated Idi Amin as Life President of the Republic of Uganda.
The Daily Monitor archives say that on January 24th 1973, exactly two years after Amin assumed the presidency, residents of Kamwezi Sub-county in Kabale District, gathered at the Sub-county headquarters and proposed that Amin be made Life President.
The gathering was reportedly chaired by Mr Karegyesa, the Kamwezi Sub-county chief.
As we all know, the secretary of the Kigezi gathering was Mr. Amama Mbabazi (the former presidential candidate 2016) whom it is said actually drafted the document.
But the kitchen gossip and fiction says "Amin designated himself".
In reality, it came from Kigezi district elders.
The Monitor continues to say that the Kigezi proposal was later sold to the Eishengyero Rya Ankole (Ankole District Council).
In late January 1973, a second meeting of chiefs and elders from the two districts was held at Kamukuzi, Mbarara District headquarters.
On January 31, 1973, the Voice of Uganda newspaper carried a lead story titled: "Make Amin Life President."
It had the subtitle: "Ankole & Kigezi people make historic proposal on Gen. Amin's leadership and urge all Ugandans to support it."
The story partly read: "The Defence Council has been urged by the people of Kigezi and Ankole to consider very seriously the proposal of making General Idi Amin Uganda's Life President, and they have also appealed to all Ugandans to support the proposal."
In late 1974, almost two years after the proposal was first made in Kigezi, Amin accepted the Life president title to be bestowed on him by the Defence Council, the highest military authority in the country. And on July 15th, 1975, three years after it was first proposed, Amin was promoted to Field Marshal at a function hosted at State House Entebbe.
So in regards to the only legitimate presidents of Uganda, Sir Kabaka Muteesa II was designated the first President of Uganda at independence in 1962.
He was later ousted illegally by Milton Obote in a 1966 military coup where Obote ordered Amin, then a military commander, to storm the Presidential palace.
Amin secretely notified Muteesa about the pending attack and directed him how and where to flee. After the assault, Milton Obote abolished the Constitution and suspended both the judiciary.and political.parties.
Obote then promoted himself from Prime Minister to President.
Therefore Milton Obote was an illegitimate despot. And General Amin was therefore right in later ousting an illegitimate despot.
In fact anyone would have been right in ousting Obote after he overthrew Muteesa.
Gen. Idi Amin was also right in April 1971 when he brought back the legitimate president Muteesa from London (though already dead, murdered in exile by Obote operatives to permanently stop any Muteesa return to power).
Which therefore makes Field Marshal President Idi Amin the only other legitimate government caretaker.
So besides Major General Kabaka Sir Edward Muteesa II and Field Marshal Idi Amin, all the rest are illegitimate despots who have since used all the tricks in the books to legitimize themselves. Incuding using democracy (rigged elections).
They cannot therefore be considered to have any legitimate official ranks or civilian titles besides an unlawful assembly of armed and unarmed people who stitch bogus national insignia and fabricated medals on their clothes with sewing needles and thread.
