{UAH} I AM PREPARED TO DIE AND HISTORY WILL ABSOLVE ME-FIDEL CASTRO
Here is the full text of Fidel Castro's speech in court in 1953 after his trial and sentence to death for leading an attack on the Moncada military Garrison, which sparked the beginning of the armed struggle against the Batista US puppet dictatorship. In his speech, Castro made it clear to court that he was not afraid of death, and in fact was prepared to die for the ideals he stood for. Nelson Mandela was later to make a similar speech in his 1961 Rivonia Treason Trial, in which he too declared he was prepared to die for his beliefs and ideals
