{UAH} A Letter from a Brother in Gulu - Acoliland

The Luo Cultural Revolution, The Beginning of Marriage Among Acoli Folks of Northern Uganda – Burkina Style 17 – 11 – 2016 – By Okumu Langol – GULU-UGANDA: According to Mzee John Onyango Odongo, the author of "Central Luo during Aconya." The central Luo Oral History of 1950s invariably believed that marriage was the foundation of society and moral laws. It is claimed that they inherited the oral history of their moral laws from the destroyed legendary Meroe Kingdom of the Black People; they generally claimed that marriage began with Black Civilization which originated from the shore of Mediterranean Sea, which then spread all over the world Onyango.
The beginning of marriageAccordingly to common oral narration, claimed to have been handed down from the destroyed Meroe Kingdom, the early people throughout the World lived like herds of cattle we see today as far as sexual behaviour was concerned. In that early society, when any female was seen with menstruation, males would converge on her for sexual intercourse by force like dogs. As it was that since, many males could freely copulate with a single females during their monthly period.
The children born in that society were brought up by their mothers. No man was responsible for a children in real words. In fact, responsibility for bringing up children rested squarely on the women. This mode of existence continued for centuries until a man called Otibe Kilere was born, and then he introduced marriage. According to Onyango Odongo's, oral tradition had it that although his mother was a tall beautiful woman, Otibe Kilere was born a dwarf, which was why he was given the second name "kilere", which meant "a Small man" in Luo – Acoli language. Strongly enough, Otibe Kilere was blessed with a tall powerful penis and he also had a great sexual appetite, it is said. Whenever he found a man copulating with a woman his penis would raise and he would fall down with a violent sexual excitement and, or interest. He would begin to wriggle and moan until he reached orgasm.
But he was too small and therefore, too weak to catch and over power a girl so that he may test real sexual intercourse, but many men ignored him. Thus, his fortune came one day when his close friend caught for him a beautiful girl called Nyako. His friend opened Nyako's thighs for him and when he entered and his penis touched Nyako's private part, he ejaculated immediately with a loud cry. But he cringed to Nyako who tried to push him away, instead he began afresh to pump into Nyako's sex with such vigour that Nyako began to respond and was aroused to frenzied excitement. They wriggled and pumped into each other rhythmically and they reached orgasm, after some rest he again started and took a little longer until Nyako has also aroused. She became mad with violent excitement and cried out very loudly. They wriggled and pumped into each other rhythmically and they reached orgasm together at the same time while Otibe Kilere wheezed and Nyako punctuated with moaning.
Nyako found herself thoroughly exhausted and she remained lying on her back with Otibe Kilere lying flat between her thighs. Within a short time Otibe Kilere began to pump again while Nyako was trying to sleep and he ejaculated without arousing Nyako's organ. After some rest he again started and took a little longer until Nyako was aroused, she became mad with excitement and cried out very loudly, they again reached sexual climax together at the same time. In that sexual meeting with Otibe Kilere, and Nyako's sexual desire was thoroughly quenched. She enjoyed sexual intercourse with the dwarf than she ever knew before. Later on she could not enjoy sexual intercourse with other men who usually caught her and copulated with her by force. She began to long for Otibe Kilere's company whenever she wanted to play sex. She would look for the dwarf and lure him to a remote place where they would copulate until both of them were exhausted.
Clearly, Nyako's love for Otibe Kilere was not one way traffic; Otibe Kilere also became mad for Nyako. This was the first real love between a man and a woman. Later Otibe Kilere who was extraordinarily a clever dwarf tactfully asked the elders to pass an injunction prohibiting request and he began to live with Nyako for sexual partnership. It was strange request but the elders granted his request and he began to live with her under the same roof. They became the first human beings to live together as husband and wife, they produced a child and Otibe Kilere helped Nyako to care for the baby. The old chief who had brought them closer to his hut to protect other men, watched the happiness, which the couple was enjoying and been to long for a permanent female partner, he eventually persuaded the elder to give him and exclusive sex right over women.
The elders acceded to his request and the chief became the second family man, but the woman selected by the older chief had no love for the old man in the manner Nyako loved Otibe Kilere. The marriage of the old chief was forced marriage, many men began to imitate the two couples and soon afterward there were many families in the early Luo society. However, political thinkers who spearheaded the cultural evolution later discouraged "Keny Atonga" forced marriage and "Keny Jonga" or arranged marriage which came much later.
