Today, an overjoyed Winnie Byanyima could not hide her happiness as she announced to the world that her son, Anselm Besigye had been admitted to Harvard University. In her words, Byanyima noted; "I am speechless! Anselm has been admitted to Harvard University. Proudest Mum! Thanking God."
Anselm is the son of Winnie Byanyima and Kizza Besigye. Byanyima is an aeronautical engineer, politician, and diplomat. She is the executive director of Oxfam International. Kizza Besigye on the other hand has been Uganda's leading opposition politician for years.
In the past Anselm had come under the spotlight from many who felt his clothing style was not reflective of a future son in law. Anselm first featured in Ugandan news when in 2001, officials from CMI went unannounced to their home and manhandled the kid as one of their search missions. Byanyima was to react furiously; "I am angry. I am very furious but I am not surprised. I have given up on Museveni and Mayombo. They are capable of doing anything cruel. They can violate the rights of anybody including the rights of a child, an innocent child."
According to Prep Scholar, "Getting into elite schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and others is a goal of many high school students. One should also have a 4.04 GPA or higher. If your GPA is lower than this, you need to compensate with a higher SAT/ACT score. For a school as selective as Harvard, you'll also need to impress them with the rest of your application."
We wish the Future Son-in-Law the best in his studies at Harvard.
