Lukwago is A Gallery Politician – Kamya

By Serestino Tusingwire

The Minister of Kampala, Beti Kamya has blasted the Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago for liking publicity other than doing the actual work

While talking to journalists on Friday, Kamya said Lukwago is the kind of a politician who likes making news headline in even when there is no reason for it.

"Some politicians need to make news, if they are not making news doing any substantive work, they will find a way of making news. We call them gallery politicians." Kamya said.

She added that she didn't expect people like Lukwago who are brilliant lawyers to act as if he knows nothing about the law by failing to understand that the council has competence to pass the act.

In saying this, Kamya was lashing out to Lukwago who during this week publicly attacked her of usurping his powers as a LORD Mayor of Kampala.

Lukwago argued that Kamya is turning him a lame duck Lord Mayor by failing to approve Kampala Capital City Council's resolutions.

"I have presided over six meetings in the last six months and the directives we have come up with have been defied by Kamya," Lukwago said.

The two who were once goods friends during the struggle to overthrow Museveni but they are now turning into serious enemies after one joined the government side and the other remained in the opposition.
