A man has broken both his ankles and a wrist after jumping over a railing and falling around 9 metres during a robbery pursuit near the Rogers Centre, Toronto police confirm.
Police said the man was fleeing from a Rabba Fine Foods clerk after lottery tickets were stolen from the grocery store at Blue Jays Way and Front St. Wednesday evening.
During the chase, the suspect jumped over the railing in an attempt to escape and misjudged the fall, police said.
He was transported to a trauma centre by emergency run with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries. He is expected to survive, police said.
Rabba manager Frank Bernardi said security footage from the store shows a man taking lottery tickets.
