{UAH} Edward Mulindwa: House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes recuses himself from Russia probe
By Washington Post Staff April 6 at 9:57 AM
In a statement, Nunes said he would temporarily step aside as head of the House Intelligence Committee's ongoing investigation into Russian involvement in the U.S. elections.
Nunes said in a statement that he decided to recuse himself after "several leftwing activist groups" filed complaints with the Office of Congressional Ethics. Nunes said those charges are "entirely false and politically motivated." Nunes said his recusal will be in effect while the House Ethics Committee looks into the matter.
Reps. Michael Conaway (R-Tex.) will take the lead on the investigation with assistance from Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) and Tom Rooney (R-Fla.).
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
