RUMOUR HAS IT...Did a minister "rape" a colleague?
He was a powerful minister from western Uganda. She was his deputy, born again and from Buganda. The male minister (deceased) had always asked her for "some." She had flatly declined. But one night, she sauntered into his office for some consultation on an important matter. The randy male minister sensed an opportunity. So as she went on and on, he moved closer and grabbed her hand. The female minister protested but by then the male minister had shoved his hand under her skirt and guided her to a sofa in the office. He unzipped his trouser as the female minister shouted no, no. Outside the office, the ministers' guards stood still and did not know whether intervene when they heard noises emanating from the office. Inside, the female minister had given in (or is up). So the male minister had his fill. Teary eyed, she left the office and did not turn up for work for a week. One day after a cabinet meeting, the female minister asked to talk privately to the president. After the meeting and perhaps sensing her predicament, Museveni agreed to shift her to another ministry. This did not happen and from then onwards, the female minister never went back to the male minister's office. She was eventually dropped from cabinet in a reshuffle and she retreated to private work. In April I ran into her at a supermarket in Ntinda. I had interviewed her once in 2005 and I was surprised that she still remembered me. She asked me what could have motivated some people to break into The Observer offices (thankfully she is not on Facebook). I told her that i did not know. As she boarded her car and bid farewell, this nasty episode that happened to her in the male minister's office played out in my mind.

Allaah gives the best to those who leave the choice to Him."And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then He is Able to do all things." (6:17)
