{UAH} MP receives threatening message minutes before voting for age limit removal
The passing of the Raphael Magyezi Bill that sought to remove the cap on the presidential aspirants has reignited the old traditional political fights in Busoga region.
Kamuli municipality Member of Parliament, Rehema Watongola is up in arms with Bugabula South legislator Maurice Kibalya for allegedly issuing her a threatening letter for supporting the controversial constitutional amendment Bill 2017.
The passing of the age limit Bill left a section with broken promises, anguish and – now it has reopened the old political scars in Busoga region.
Three of the five Kamuli district legislators voted for the amendment, one against and speaker played a neutral role. Then why the hullabaloo?
It has emerged, the battle lines have been drawn between Watongola who voted for the amendment and Kibalya that opposed it.
Watongola argues that before presenting her position on the floor of Parliament, she received a note within the house allegedly authored by Kibalya impersonating Asuman Kiyingi.
Kiyingi has tasked the speaker to investigate the matter in which his name is cited.
But to the Bugabula south legislator Maurice Kibalya, the claims against him are baseless and un called for.
Now with the increasing misunderstanding amongst politicians hailing from Kamuli, its not yet clear whether Speaker Rebecca Kadaga who also doubles as NRM second vice chairperson is looked as an arbiter in the political contest.
