The "Scramble for Africa": The day Europeans got together around a table and started dividing Africa amongst themselves. Thirteen European countries (plus the United States) met in Berlin, Germany to agree on the rules of African colonisation. In basic terms this meant how and where each one would plunder the continents resources, plus how and where each one would exert political control over indeginous locals. While they were competing with each other on which parts to take, they agreed on common imperialist expansionism policies and a common subjugation strategy on the peoples/kingdoms/chiefdoms. They also agreed on interference in internal indeginous issues as a means to restructure, then control and dominate over any local communities and their leadership. It was in essence the first time a World Order policy concept was established. A fraternity's control system that continues invariably to this day though with more modern mechanisms and 21st century tools: Including Foreign aid, monetary controls, economic protectionism, off-shore banking & related fiscal piracy, the global war on terror, enslavement of colonies through un-repayable foreign debt, the nuclear arms race, well-orchestrated media propaganda & coordinated "fake news", but also a new, yet-to-be-understood concept of "Human rights imperialism". Basically a well-orchestrated global finger-pointing blame game by a self-appointed "World police" backed by its media, diplomatic corps, multinational companies, some known international NGO's, and institutions like the World bank and the IMF.
But back then, when they convened to have Africa for dinner, they were not pondering on the interests of their meal (Africa), they were simply planning on eating it to their bloated fill no matter how many centuries it took. Indeed at the time the plan was for perpetual colonization with little or no regard for the wishes of the indeginous peoples. They unilaterally agreed that the vast swaths of partitioned African lands would be "theirs for keeps". Literally a land-grab that would have immense consequences on the lives, traditions and cutures of the African peoples. The suffering, the abuse, the death, the destruction, and the general impact of this meeting in Berlin continues to this day, and probably for centuries on end. It will still be in the form of sporadic conflicts caused by western-sponsored dictatorships in the artificial countries created at this meeting, or internal ethnic strife due to forced co-existence under artificial nations created at this meeting, or foreign-instigated regime change for the control of resources within the artificial countries created during this meeting. And while the global political contexts might have changed thanks to the new dynamics resulting after the Second World War, the alliances from this meeting continue to this day. They conduct war in the "former colonies" together, and even consult each other on how they vote at the United Nations against former colonies that refuse to abide by their self-interest rules. NATO and the European Union (EU) are direct descendants of decisions and alliances first made during the Scramble for Africa. One can notice that in global affairs, it is always the Europeans (and their relatives who migrated across the seas to grab the lands of America, New Zealand, Canada and Australia), against the rest of the world. And they still want to be in control of the world's resources under a new, more subtle expansionist partitioning that they call "spheres of influence". Had it not been for World War II, the partitioning would have remained brutal and despotic. But at the end of that war they found themselves blaming Nazi Germany for doing exactly what they themselves were actually still doing in the rest of the world. Conquering indeginous territories and forcing them into submission via colonial rule.
After the Nuremberg trials in 1946, Europeans now had to swallow humble pie and agree to decolonization or be branded Nazi's themselves by the colonies. Decolonization would in many cases still take decades, and even then, neo-colonialism (indirect colonialism) would still prevail.
This is probably the clearest example of parasitic clinging to the so-called "colonies". Sucking the blood out of the continent through its resources and enriching themselves through mass exploitation. All this while ridiculing, demonizing, exiling, dehumanizing, subjugating, poisoning, and therefore destroying African traditional societies.
But on that day when they sat as family and feasted on Africa, not a single African was invited. Not a single African was consulted. This is the Berlin Conference (1884-85). And just like their practice of slave trade or Hitlers conquest of Europe, this is #Fascism.
